8/9/14

Woke up to sunny weather, and extreme humidity! Left Lake Charles towards Baton Rouge, then New Orleans. It's crazy how much water there is everywhere, the interstate is on stilts for miles at a time over swamps and bayous. I'm pretty sure I saw a gator from the highway.... most likely a log..... but I'm going with a gator. New Orleans was as crazy as I expected, drunk people everywhere! Had Lunch at Coops Place on Decatur St.; Red bean jambalaya.... damn good.  Rode into Mississippi, and cut down to the Gulf of Mexico on HWY 90 to Biloxi. The beach was amazing, bright white sand. I saw a lot of people on the beach, but no one in the water...... apparently you don't go in the water there!  After passing thru Biloxi, I cut north back to I-10, where a nice big dark cloud was waiting for me.... I rode about 35 miles in heavy rain to Mobile, Alabama where I stayed for the night.

^ Took a little detour down some back road along a bayou somewhere between Lake Charles and Baton Rouge..... dead ended on this bridge, so amazing back there.
^ 'Coops Place' on Decatur St. Great food, and even better people watching. There was something going on from the University..... There were hundreds of guys and girls all over the streets drunk, wearing red dresses...... I was going to go ride thru the French Quarter.... but the streets were so packed. This is my kind of beer......
^ Mississippi was the first state on this trip that I had not Previously been to.
^ Met and talked to John at the gas station. He told me to not swim in the water in mississippi or Alabama, then had me follow him down to th Gulf, and sent me east towards Alabama.
^ Long Beach, Mississippi. The water was a couple inches deep way out there...... saw people walking way out there, but not one person swimming..... Like John said.... 'Lordy, I would never crawl into no Mississippi or Alabama water!'
^ This suspect looking cloud was following me for miles....... well it finally caught up with me.

^ Hid my bike in Kitti's garage for the night poured, and about a gallon of water out of my boots!
^ So, thanks to the wonderous and ridiculous social media world..... I ended up at Kitti's house. It was her room mate Nick's birthday, which made for a great night...... Great BBQ on the front porch, while shooting fireworks off the porch into the rainy street at midnight..... Met some great people, and had a great time.
