There is a campground, and a 7 mile loop that takes you around the whole park. As far as you can see is miles of lava rock. It really does look like you're on another planet. There was a few places to park, and read about the area, hike, and check out lava tube caves. I spent a couple hours riding around the park, before heading west towards Boise. It was about a 200 mile ride through hills and farms. I'm glad I stayed off the main highway, much nicer ride!<div> I got into Boise and rode to Devotion Tattoo, saw a bunch of my friends and hung out for a few. I went back to Weston and Nicoles to unload all my crap off my bike. A couple people showed up from Salt Lake to stay at Westons for the night as well, So we all rode out to Dinner, then to Phil's house. I pulled my exhaust pipe off at Phil's, it had been leaking for awhile now. I figured it was the exhaust gasket.... but it was worse. The head of the pipe, that goes into the motor was broken. Phil looks in the corner of his shop, and pulls out the exact same exhaust that I have, but almost brand new! We called a buddy (who the pipe belongs too), worked out a deal, and put it on my bike. It ran soooo much better!!!<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-a62bKUlwOnw/VB4YAlhco9I/AAAAAAAAApc/XPTpCelZqfg/s640/blogger-image--744877039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-a62bKUlwOnw/VB4YAlhco9I/AAAAAAAAApc/XPTpCelZqfg/s640/blogger-image--744877039.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-SG4Pv40ym9k/VB4YEvjI8hI/AAAAAAAAAps/wQRsaMAFDCA/s640/blogger-image--665522966.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-SG4Pv40ym9k/VB4YEvjI8hI/AAAAAAAAAps/wQRsaMAFDCA/s640/blogger-image--665522966.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-miTbnp0SnSA/VB4YC4p2SyI/AAAAAAAAApk/ODrO9Bfyg2w/s640/blogger-image--878387871.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-miTbnp0SnSA/VB4YC4p2SyI/AAAAAAAAApk/ODrO9Bfyg2w/s640/blogger-image--878387871.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-js05JYM489A/VB4YGTvh2gI/AAAAAAAAAp0/5ew2bbh2CF0/s640/blogger-image-1703838466.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-js05JYM489A/VB4YGTvh2gI/AAAAAAAAAp0/5ew2bbh2CF0/s640/blogger-image-1703838466.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-dN85-ljvJ6E/VB4ZbqNnqrI/AAAAAAAAAqg/HIfO5ulSQU8/s640/blogger-image-1802669989.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-dN85-ljvJ6E/VB4ZbqNnqrI/AAAAAAAAAqg/HIfO5ulSQU8/s640/blogger-image-1802669989.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-qMOJCnf7sRA/VB4ZZlD4prI/AAAAAAAAAqY/ZCt6tfj7Ucc/s640/blogger-image-1309044338.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-qMOJCnf7sRA/VB4ZZlD4prI/AAAAAAAAAqY/ZCt6tfj7Ucc/s640/blogger-image-1309044338.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-B-lDR6rng_o/VB4ZYb8-boI/AAAAAAAAAqQ/gmv-_f231HM/s640/blogger-image-1187798380.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-B-lDR6rng_o/VB4ZYb8-boI/AAAAAAAAAqQ/gmv-_f231HM/s640/blogger-image-1187798380.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UMxqMkXXPNI/VB4Zc_lxZLI/AAAAAAAAAqo/KfvQqsoIE_o/s640/blogger-image--915150502.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UMxqMkXXPNI/VB4Zc_lxZLI/AAAAAAAAAqo/KfvQqsoIE_o/s640/blogger-image--915150502.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-PpBT3a0jDtE/VB4ZXEgTy5I/AAAAAAAAAqI/bVQpSBxKJtA/s640/blogger-image--357433962.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-PpBT3a0jDtE/VB4ZXEgTy5I/AAAAAAAAAqI/bVQpSBxKJtA/s640/blogger-image--357433962.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i8KvvUleFfw/VB4ZVyhkBpI/AAAAAAAAAqA/xNTr9HCUiLo/s640/blogger-image--756248214.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i8KvvUleFfw/VB4ZVyhkBpI/AAAAAAAAAqA/xNTr9HCUiLo/s640/blogger-image--756248214.jpg"></a></div></div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-32885435867732105722014-09-20T16:27:00.001-07:002014-09-20T17:19:39.901-07:009/04/14<div>The motel was much warmer then if I would have camped, it was freezing last night!</div><div> I left around 8:30, and it was still really cold. The 50 mile ride to the east entrance of Yellowstone was amazing! Once I got into the park I rode about 15 miles and got to Yellowstone Lake. It finally started warming up a little, and the sky was clear and blue. I rode around the lake and headed north to start my way around the whole loop. There was a ton of cars pulled over in one spot, and everyone was out with cameras, so I stopped. There was a Bison hanging out right off the road in a field grazing! It was so cool, I had never seen one before! I kept on north until I saw a sign for 'The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone'. I followed the signs down to the lower falls. It was pretty incredible, a huge rock ravine, with really cool big waterfalls. What made it especially cool, was the fact that when driving on the highway, you'd never know it was there. just looks like thick forest. Next I came across the 'Mud Volcano', a big boiling pit of mud. There were also big boiling pools of crystal clear blue water. </div><div> In the parking lot I noticed a guy laying down looking under his motorcycle. It was an old Honda CB. His bike was leaking oil, and I asked him if he needed help. We talked for a bit. He and his girlfriend had ridden from Buffalo, NY to Yellowstone, and were headed for Los Angeles. I gave him my phone number in case he needed a shop to go to in Boise, or LA. Haven't heard from him yet, so hope fully Buffalo Bill and his girlfriend made it!!!</div><div> I came across a huge open field..... way out there were about 20 Bison! I took a pic, but with my phone camera its a little hard to see that far out there. I rode around the top of the loop, and down the west side past the west entrance, and down to Old Faithful. I walked over to the sitting area, and sat down with the massive crowd of tourists. After about 20 minutes, it started going. At first it started small, and looked like that was it.... but then it went off like crazy and shot about 30' up! It's pretty wild that it happens like clockwork, and has for years and years.</div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> I rode back up to the turn off for the west entrance and headed out of the park. The road followed along a river for awhile, and I saw a couple big Bucks by the water. The west entrance spits you out into a little corner of Montana, and then into Idaho. I rode for a couple hours towards Idaho Falls, Idaho, cut west on highway 20, and started across central Idaho towards Boise. I made it to a small town called Arco, about 200 miles east of Boise. It was dark, and getting really cold. So I checked into a motel for the night.</span> <div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2ikha6lnzjc/VB4LX_X3G6I/AAAAAAAAAoI/qgq84xL_EgA/s640/blogger-image--1133692753.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I cut off to ride through a few small towns and over to Devils Tower National Monument.<div> As I got off the highway, I saw an older guy on the side of the road on an old Harley. I pulled over, and he told me he had ran out of gas. I offerd him the gas I had with me, but he said had someone on the way. We talked for a few minutes about riding cross country.</div><div>I rode to Devils Tower, and paid to go into the park. I parked and walked the 1.5 mile trail around Devils Tower. It was really cool!!</div><div> I rode a few more hours and went through Bighorn National Forest. Which was unbelievable! Except for the part where I ran out of gas haha. Good thing I brought gas with me! As it got dark the wind came up, and got really bad. I read later on the news that there were 35-40mph gusts. I was riding sideways for a longtime haha. I finally made it to Cody Wyoming around 10pm and found a motel. I thought about camping, but it was supposed to get down to about 35!</div><div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-oKlm6WbWKE8/VBJ40sg-3WI/AAAAAAAAAmc/_5_SJuLXOZ4/s640/blogger-image--1187058551.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-oKlm6WbWKE8/VBJ40sg-3WI/AAAAAAAAAmc/_5_SJuLXOZ4/s640/blogger-image--1187058551.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-UNDoV0PeoUc/VBJ46sFZpDI/AAAAAAAAAm8/EHIrDNq7jqE/s640/blogger-image-570626941.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-UNDoV0PeoUc/VBJ46sFZpDI/AAAAAAAAAm8/EHIrDNq7jqE/s640/blogger-image-570626941.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-94ulKnHan3M/VBJ47p1fwYI/AAAAAAAAAnE/M5xNZfYjNrQ/s640/blogger-image-966661997.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-94ulKnHan3M/VBJ47p1fwYI/AAAAAAAAAnE/M5xNZfYjNrQ/s640/blogger-image-966661997.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ch0-oMTn6Qg/VBJ45r-oECI/AAAAAAAAAm0/h-aXG_VUnQU/s640/blogger-image--1808121845.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ch0-oMTn6Qg/VBJ45r-oECI/AAAAAAAAAm0/h-aXG_VUnQU/s640/blogger-image--1808121845.jpg"></a></div> ^ Devils Tower was the first US Monument.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ga1IQIefh-Y/VBJ4zgo1gcI/AAAAAAAAAmU/BV0rhjL5-VM/s640/blogger-image-1720757045.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ga1IQIefh-Y/VBJ4zgo1gcI/AAAAAAAAAmU/BV0rhjL5-VM/s640/blogger-image-1720757045.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-NEWSPb9jVms/VBJ4954TK1I/AAAAAAAAAnM/GUA2-13Jt9o/s640/blogger-image-825005610.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-NEWSPb9jVms/VBJ4954TK1I/AAAAAAAAAnM/GUA2-13Jt9o/s640/blogger-image-825005610.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> ^ Tenspell Canyon in Bighorn National Forest.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2XGkO65l5hA/VBJ42oXkYJI/AAAAAAAAAms/IJnk6scHqh4/s640/blogger-image-1486330091.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2XGkO65l5hA/VBJ42oXkYJI/AAAAAAAAAms/IJnk6scHqh4/s640/blogger-image-1486330091.jpg"></a></div></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-au-G-mvH7kE/VBJ41ooBs7I/AAAAAAAAAmk/6vdHA5boskE/s640/blogger-image-434357681.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-au-G-mvH7kE/VBJ41ooBs7I/AAAAAAAAAmk/6vdHA5boskE/s640/blogger-image-434357681.jpg"></a></div></div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-62770704552948463282014-09-11T20:42:00.001-07:002014-09-11T21:10:29.961-07:009/02/14It dropped to 44 over the night, good thing I have a good sleeping bag, cause it was damn cold!!!! I packed up and rode to the Crazy Horse Memorial. The visitor center was really cool. A ton of information on the mountain, the area, and the history of the Black Hills. The Crazy Horse carved into the mountain was pretty incredible. It was started 60 years ago, and isn't expected to be finished for another 60-65 years. I took the bus ride down to the base of the mountain, and got a better view.<div> Thanks to some suggestions from my buddy Andy, I rode to Sylvan Lake and had some lunch. Then rode back down to Custer City, and up Iron Mountain Road to Keystone, which was an amazing ride!!</div><div> Right outside of Mt. Rushmore, I got pulled over for going 51 ina 35mph zone..... oops. He was pretty cool, and once I explained that I was traveling the country, he told me to slow down and let me go. The 3rd time I've avoided a ticket so far!</div><div> Mt. Rushmore was incredible!! There was a ton of cool info on the history and story of the sculpture. I walked around there for a couple hours, until it started getting dark. I rode back north to Deadwood and got a motel room, since I froze my ass off the night before! I rode about 20 miles on some farm roads through endless fields of corn. Got back on Highway and headed west. It was beautiful out in the Great Plains.... just nothing for miles and miles, which was nice. After Hours of riding in a straight line, the sky starting looking a little suspect. I pulled off the highway and checked the weather.... Heavy rain, wind, lightning, and hail ahead.... rad. I put on the rain gear I got from Corey in NY, covered up my bags and gear, and went. It sucked. I rode about 80 miles in horrible weather, got rained on, blown around, and hailed on, which hurts real bad at 60mph. I finally made it to Rapid City, and the sky cleared up. Thanks to the rain gear, only my boots and gloves were wet. I pulled the rain gear off and rode into Custer City and found a campsite near Crazy Horse. I put my boots and gloves next to the campfire and tried to warm up.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-6pxoL0iv9vs/VBJhmRRd8CI/AAAAAAAAAjU/2zUGHxxEtZk/s640/blogger-image-1434914316.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-6pxoL0iv9vs/VBJhmRRd8CI/AAAAAAAAAjU/2zUGHxxEtZk/s640/blogger-image-1434914316.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-cJ_k9oknqWY/VBJhpkycZ1I/AAAAAAAAAjs/hbNxxC6fvmU/s640/blogger-image--1998680117.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-cJ_k9oknqWY/VBJhpkycZ1I/AAAAAAAAAjs/hbNxxC6fvmU/s640/blogger-image--1998680117.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-jR1BzhePCXo/VBJhq1Z63MI/AAAAAAAAAj0/ER-ho3SPtvY/s640/blogger-image-706375082.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-jR1BzhePCXo/VBJhq1Z63MI/AAAAAAAAAj0/ER-ho3SPtvY/s640/blogger-image-706375082.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Byp-XdeHMw8/VBJhno54HkI/AAAAAAAAAjc/zf2iZLTqfmM/s640/blogger-image-934776039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Byp-XdeHMw8/VBJhno54HkI/AAAAAAAAAjc/zf2iZLTqfmM/s640/blogger-image-934776039.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-DSaggCHygck/VBJhove_i2I/AAAAAAAAAjk/Y5SPdCnfTbY/s640/blogger-image-657367169.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-DSaggCHygck/VBJhove_i2I/AAAAAAAAAjk/Y5SPdCnfTbY/s640/blogger-image-657367169.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-32KlhiGc36E/VBJhsDkQ6qI/AAAAAAAAAj8/VXgh2NIz4yY/s640/blogger-image--810994242.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-32KlhiGc36E/VBJhsDkQ6qI/AAAAAAAAAj8/VXgh2NIz4yY/s640/blogger-image--810994242.jpg"></a></div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-21278041872653088672014-09-03T22:26:00.001-07:002014-09-03T22:26:17.167-07:008/31/14It was crazy foggy when I woke up. Evertything was soaked, and I noticed I was camping in cornfields haha! I packed up everything wet, and rode across Minesota and into South Dakota. I stopped in Sioux Falls to see the water falls that run right through town. They were really cool! Three people tried crossing the river up above the falls and looked like they were having a hard time. I thought for sure at least one of them would get sucked over, but they eventually made it..... only to be greeted by a couple police officers.<div> I planned on riding for a few more hours, but the weather had a different plan haha. I made it about 30 miles when it started pouring. I pulled into a gas station and checked the weather. It was only going to get worse. So I found a motel nearby and hid out for the night in Canistota, South Dakota.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iph8QqENB9Y/VAf33pVNQ5I/AAAAAAAAAik/wSRtg1_CKd0/s640/blogger-image--1101251050.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iph8QqENB9Y/VAf33pVNQ5I/AAAAAAAAAik/wSRtg1_CKd0/s640/blogger-image--1101251050.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vEObr2y2hZs/VAf32Ia8OUI/AAAAAAAAAic/_bdrwCVLdjA/s640/blogger-image-1031347550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vEObr2y2hZs/VAf32Ia8OUI/AAAAAAAAAic/_bdrwCVLdjA/s640/blogger-image-1031347550.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-22La567gttQ/VAf35qTUjMI/AAAAAAAAAis/A3YLmDbwEPg/s640/blogger-image-1013683315.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-22La567gttQ/VAf35qTUjMI/AAAAAAAAAis/A3YLmDbwEPg/s640/blogger-image-1013683315.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-2WY8ly4e4eg/VAf1Q63NzEI/AAAAAAAAAiU/bEPAnrzHG7s/s640/blogger-image-1176896455.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-2WY8ly4e4eg/VAf1Q63NzEI/AAAAAAAAAiU/bEPAnrzHG7s/s640/blogger-image-1176896455.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-O09wlwjvTNg/VAf37JuktmI/AAAAAAAAAi0/7JaqUiBv6U8/s640/blogger-image--1525942016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-O09wlwjvTNg/VAf37JuktmI/AAAAAAAAAi0/7JaqUiBv6U8/s640/blogger-image--1525942016.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-tNKf1Wy7Fpo/VAf38rkQM_I/AAAAAAAAAi8/Nsz2pdmGWiI/s640/blogger-image--1085496489.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-tNKf1Wy7Fpo/VAf38rkQM_I/AAAAAAAAAi8/Nsz2pdmGWiI/s640/blogger-image--1085496489.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0fjUB6uW_Uk/VAf398JFD5I/AAAAAAAAAjE/9EwAw2l65QY/s640/blogger-image--1018330533.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0fjUB6uW_Uk/VAf398JFD5I/AAAAAAAAAjE/9EwAw2l65QY/s640/blogger-image--1018330533.jpg"></a></div></div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-60200719207391870812014-09-03T21:49:00.001-07:002014-09-03T21:49:55.894-07:008/30/14I got breakfast with Kyle, and went back and hungout with him and Lauren for a bit. I rode north to Madison, Wisconsin, then west towards Minnesota. I got to the Mississippi River as it was getting dark. I tried a couple campgrounds but all were full. Then I realized it was friday night on Labor Day weekend, oops. I rode over the river into Minnesota. It was cold and supper foggy, I was trying to follow signs to Great River Bluff State Park. But instead wound up at some old lady's farm. She (Beverly) had a few RV spots setup on her property, and said I could set my tent up behind the barn. Which I did, made some food, and called it a night.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-gcw7aEOVBO8/VAfunEUM5-I/AAAAAAAAAho/TTCBcc24ik0/s640/blogger-image-1313061107.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-gcw7aEOVBO8/VAfunEUM5-I/AAAAAAAAAho/TTCBcc24ik0/s640/blogger-image-1313061107.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4MOFjn7rjxY/VAfuvLfnP6I/AAAAAAAAAh4/HuTF5WmYWfY/s640/blogger-image-900186793.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4MOFjn7rjxY/VAfuvLfnP6I/AAAAAAAAAh4/HuTF5WmYWfY/s640/blogger-image-900186793.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/---CN9QELZgk/VAfvcgK_4PI/AAAAAAAAAiI/f0fOnUlsE54/s640/blogger-image--2115652941.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/---CN9QELZgk/VAfvcgK_4PI/AAAAAAAAAiI/f0fOnUlsE54/s640/blogger-image--2115652941.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-hMtksdqGanI/VAfuof7s91I/AAAAAAAAAhw/8jxvOxbZ-uk/s640/blogger-image--283033426.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-hMtksdqGanI/VAfuof7s91I/AAAAAAAAAhw/8jxvOxbZ-uk/s640/blogger-image--283033426.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eNTTGdRLEz8/VAfvbrNQEiI/AAAAAAAAAiA/1JRITsO_1YU/s640/blogger-image--1135122743.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eNTTGdRLEz8/VAfvbrNQEiI/AAAAAAAAAiA/1JRITsO_1YU/s640/blogger-image--1135122743.jpg"></a></div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-83918467506871442662014-09-03T21:22:00.001-07:002014-09-03T21:22:41.662-07:008/29/14 I passed out around 9:00 pm, and woke up at 7:00am..... which is about 6 hours longer then I normally sleep haha, guess I really was worn out. <div> Feeling much better, I rode the rest of the way out of Canada towards Detroit. The border there was much easier to get through. Gave the cop my passport, answered the same questions he must repeat a million times a day, and I was on my way.</div><div> I stopped for gas just outside downtown Detroit. Man, what a terrible looking city. Almost looks post apocalyptic. Abandoned buildings literally everywhere.</div><div> I rode across Michigan, across a small corner of Indiana, and into Illinois. All the while getting rained on! Got into Chicago around 8pm. Alyson had earlier called her friends Lauren and Kyle in Chicago, and they said I could stay for the night. I met Kyle at his bands practice space and watched them finish band practice before heading to his apartment. We went and grabbed some food, before going back and meeting his wife Lauren. Both very nice, and awesome for putting me up for the night.</div><div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-PAFy4MX4mJg/VAfpCil0scI/AAAAAAAAAhc/GBkz9aPNri4/s640/blogger-image--449076288.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-PAFy4MX4mJg/VAfpCil0scI/AAAAAAAAAhc/GBkz9aPNri4/s640/blogger-image--449076288.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-mL1PeeEXLjU/VAfo29YZ40I/AAAAAAAAAgk/oJCfzMp8dxI/s640/blogger-image-866243330.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-mL1PeeEXLjU/VAfo29YZ40I/AAAAAAAAAgk/oJCfzMp8dxI/s640/blogger-image-866243330.jpg"></a></div> ^ Goodbye Canada, thanks for everything....<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fLLC7F5kt9A/VAfo9efChPI/AAAAAAAAAhE/3XDbh3pp0Mo/s640/blogger-image-1210993830.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-fLLC7F5kt9A/VAfo9efChPI/AAAAAAAAAhE/3XDbh3pp0Mo/s640/blogger-image-1210993830.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-RisF2LqBkVA/VAfo4FmMN9I/AAAAAAAAAgs/-rPA9dsQkNw/s640/blogger-image--313235368.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-RisF2LqBkVA/VAfo4FmMN9I/AAAAAAAAAgs/-rPA9dsQkNw/s640/blogger-image--313235368.jpg"></a></div> ^ Rest stop Ramen lunch in the rain.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RPEwYJNONRw/VAfo5D0ZgbI/AAAAAAAAAg0/TnVCPiTaBK8/s640/blogger-image-981469576.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-RPEwYJNONRw/VAfo5D0ZgbI/AAAAAAAAAg0/TnVCPiTaBK8/s640/blogger-image-981469576.jpg"></a></div> ^ Finally out of the rain and in Illinois.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-aJqJkVMKZ0A/VAfo-jZDzjI/AAAAAAAAAhM/vn447icd1X0/s640/blogger-image-2080652228.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-aJqJkVMKZ0A/VAfo-jZDzjI/AAAAAAAAAhM/vn447icd1X0/s640/blogger-image-2080652228.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-DBjAZ0yygyU/VAfo_makY7I/AAAAAAAAAhU/p9GlgUn0uiY/s640/blogger-image--1983276288.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-DBjAZ0yygyU/VAfo_makY7I/AAAAAAAAAhU/p9GlgUn0uiY/s640/blogger-image--1983276288.jpg"></a></div> ^ Riding into Chicago.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-dxgZSVgPqtI/VAfo8KFJ_XI/AAAAAAAAAg8/s8MhIhSdPxg/s640/blogger-image-1912556526.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-dxgZSVgPqtI/VAfo8KFJ_XI/AAAAAAAAAg8/s8MhIhSdPxg/s640/blogger-image-1912556526.jpg"></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> ^ Kyle and his band practicing.</div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-31811940290082373532014-09-03T21:07:00.001-07:002014-09-03T21:07:04.649-07:008/28/14I hung out with Mike and Satchmo for a few before saying goodbye, and heading out. I rode back up to Niagara Falls and rode across the Rainbow Bridge to Canada. A van two cars ahead of me in line at the border did something weird, and just took off, so the gaurd ran after him yelling. A whole bunch of them ran out and stopped the guy. Whatever the issue was...... the guard was not happy when I go to him. I tried to be nice, he didn't care. I took my gloves off to grab my passport out of my pocket. The second I took my gloves off, he started asking about my hand and finger tattoos. What the say, what they are, and why. I tried being funny... he didn't like that. So off to inspection parking spot 1 I was sent. There was another cop waiting for me. He told me to take my helmet off and go sit inside, while he took my passport and went into a different room. After a couple minutes he told me to go back to my bike. I had to empty my pockets, and stand behind a barricade while him and another cop tore thru my bags and everything on my bike. They couldnt seem to grasp that I was just traveling and camping, and not some criminal biker haha. After all they found was camping gear, some clothes, and oatmeal and Pop Tarts, they said I could pack my stuff back up... Thanks. I still didn't know if that meant I could leave. I packed up and put my jacket on. As I was putting on my helmet, the first cop came back out and told me to take my helmet off, and show him the rest of my tattoos. I made a joke about how he was trying to get me naked, since that was the only way he was gonna see all my tattoos. Needless to say he wasn't amused, and told me to just leave.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> I rode about an hour to Hamilton to a guy named Garrets house. He got his bike out, and we rode about 40 miles to a little town called Port Dover, which is right on the north tip of Lake Erie. We had lunch and hungout for a bit. I met him thru Instagram, and funny enough he lived in Agoura and Woodland hills before moving back to Canada.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> I headed out towards Detroit, planning on making it there for the night. I stopped for gas and realized I was exhausted. I had been riding all day everyday for the last 7 days. So I found a motel in Woodstock, Canada and called it a night.</div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-nbHkYNjpejg/VAflWimTZ2I/AAAAAAAAAgU/6CIgB1JqvWc/s640/blogger-image-1343395251.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-nbHkYNjpejg/VAflWimTZ2I/AAAAAAAAAgU/6CIgB1JqvWc/s640/blogger-image-1343395251.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-bIg7emB7GrA/VAflNJ41RLI/AAAAAAAAAf0/oqm6NRoEtso/s640/blogger-image--322477433.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-bIg7emB7GrA/VAflNJ41RLI/AAAAAAAAAf0/oqm6NRoEtso/s640/blogger-image--322477433.jpg"></a></div> ^ Stupid white van up there. It wasn't to long before I was in NY. I got on the NY Thruway, and rode over 300 miles across upstate, thru Buffalo, and into Niagara Falls. Upstate NY is beautiful, especially after being in Manhattan! It was pretty overcast the whole way, but didn't get any rain. Got to Niagara Falls, and went into the park. The falls are pretty damn amazing. I paid the $17 and got on the Maid Of The Mist, and rode the boat up to the falls. The American Falls are cool....... but Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side are insane!!!<div> Corey called a friend of his in Florida who is from Buffalo. He put me in touch with a friend of his named Mike. Mike is a tattooer in Buffalo, and rides motorcycles also. I got a hold of him, and got his address. I rode back to Buffalo, to his place and met him, his girlfriend Amanda, and their dogs. Satchmo, a Mastiff, was a little skeptical of me at first.... but once he warmed up, we were buddys.</div><div> Spent the evening hanging out with Mike and Amanda before crashing out on the couch. Super cool people, especially to let a strange dude traveling cross country sleep on their couch haha!<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-HOp_9JjpQD0/VAU3tD2lOLI/AAAAAAAAAeU/bt99eys3xk8/s640/blogger-image--284193465.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; Really cool harbor full of sail boats, with awesome views to multiple islands.</div><div> Once it warmed up a little I rode over to the west side of the island to Echo Lake. There was a cool beach there, crowded with swimmers. I swam for a bit, the water was cold but felt amazing! And I needed a bath anyway after being on the road for a couple days haha.</div><div> I took the scenic route back towards the campground. I bought another bundle of wood and went back to camp to make some food. I rode up to Bar Harbor to get cell service so I could talk to Alyson while she was on break from school.</div><div> I've been have some issues with my headlight, and since I'm riding a lot at night, I figured I should take care of it haha. I pulled the bulb out and cut the connector off, and wired in a new one I bought yesterday at a Auto Parts store. All fixed and working properly! It was colder then the previous night, so I made some food, mapped out the next days route, and sat by the fire before turning in for the night.</div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uc_ORKaEE44/U_yoGuufn4I/AAAAAAAAAbc/bH2yahT_yjc/s640/blogger-image-1198012204.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uc_ORKaEE44/U_yoGuufn4I/AAAAAAAAAbc/bH2yahT_yjc/s640/blogger-image-1198012204.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/--2z7lEMrEPM/U_yoR9kCp_I/AAAAAAAAAcE/OxZF-JNqTlk/s640/blogger-image--1603710787.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/--2z7lEMrEPM/U_yoR9kCp_I/AAAAAAAAAcE/OxZF-JNqTlk/s640/blogger-image--1603710787.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ehg26I4IhFU/U_yoEoDiBOI/AAAAAAAAAbU/n-k-MR5HpxY/s640/blogger-image--214263963.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ehg26I4IhFU/U_yoEoDiBOI/AAAAAAAAAbU/n-k-MR5HpxY/s640/blogger-image--214263963.jpg"></a></div> ^ Bar Harbor.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-PCd6MD-2JAY/U_yoThAGRTI/AAAAAAAAAcM/tkMkcA3lHqw/s640/blogger-image--1204230581.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-PCd6MD-2JAY/U_yoThAGRTI/AAAAAAAAAcM/tkMkcA3lHqw/s640/blogger-image--1204230581.jpg"></a></div> ^ Echo Lake<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Og2moJV3W7E/U_yoNWnR84I/AAAAAAAAAbs/cQRfVPSx6wc/s640/blogger-image-1788485664.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Og2moJV3W7E/U_yoNWnR84I/AAAAAAAAAbs/cQRfVPSx6wc/s640/blogger-image-1788485664.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-7dxOVKymrzI/U_yoKWiv2SI/AAAAAAAAAbk/KUR2xNass2I/s640/blogger-image-991991394.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-7dxOVKymrzI/U_yoKWiv2SI/AAAAAAAAAbk/KUR2xNass2I/s640/blogger-image-991991394.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Trx2WZ8zwxc/U_yoQjzuE3I/AAAAAAAAAb8/J-TTkRmHNc8/s640/blogger-image-784209984.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Trx2WZ8zwxc/U_yoQjzuE3I/AAAAAAAAAb8/J-TTkRmHNc8/s640/blogger-image-784209984.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-uX1YjJnjm-4/U_yoU6Cd9yI/AAAAAAAAAcU/88Auq2gtN1c/s640/blogger-image--450196295.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-uX1YjJnjm-4/U_yoU6Cd9yI/AAAAAAAAAcU/88Auq2gtN1c/s640/blogger-image--450196295.jpg"></a></div> ^ Campground repair.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OolrB31PPOQ/U_yoO5QDUjI/AAAAAAAAAb0/gFQtmEFVZOQ/s640/blogger-image--119783488.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OolrB31PPOQ/U_yoO5QDUjI/AAAAAAAAAb0/gFQtmEFVZOQ/s640/blogger-image--119783488.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> ^ Gourmet.</div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-13648208998976008642014-08-26T08:26:00.001-07:002014-08-26T08:26:32.276-07:008/24/14<div>I woke up around 7 and looked outside and Tim's car was gone. This trip is really restoring my faith in humanity haha! I packed up to head farther into Maine. Thanks again Tim from Connecticut.</div><div> I was in no rush so I got off the main highway and cut over to the coast and road the Atlantic Highway 1. It was about 60 miles longer then taking the main highway, but I was in no rush, and the coast was way nicer.</div><div> I got to a town called Bucksport, and saw an awesome bridge up ahead. I pulled over and took some pics, and read a billboard for Fort Knox that was just inside the narrows from the Bridge. I never knew there was a Fort Knox in Maine, and I gues its older then the one in Kentucky. It was hardly used and was never fully armed. It awesome walking thru it. Lots of long dark tunnels, and staircases that went to underground rooms and tunnels.</div><div> One of the towers on the bridge is a 420' observation tower. I took the elevator up, and went to the top. The view was incredible, overlooking the fort one way, and out into the Atlantic the other.</div><div> I got into Acadia National Park, and rode to the south east side of the island to Seal Harbor. I rode the park loop around the east side of the island as the sun was setting, it was amazing. I got a campsite at Blackwoods Campground. I rode up into Bar Harbor to get some Firewood, and hung out for the night. Its been getting pretty cold up here, so a fire is definitely nice!</div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4jmJx37dlVg/U_ym_opUuJI/AAAAAAAAAag/pPuRJ6j1Ee0/s640/blogger-image-1758781832.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; We got Bacon Maple donuts, that were AMAZING. I took off and headed up the coast.</div><div> The inner lip on the rear pulley on my bike separated from the pulley. Nothing happened other then it was making a loud annoying noise while I was riding. And worse case the belt could potentially slip off the pulley, which would not be good.</div><div> I started calling around to different bike shops in the area. A shop called Sin City Motorcycles referred me to Paul, a local Harley Mechanic. I called him and explained my situation, he said he thought he had a pulley and to head over to his place. When I got there it was exactly what I expected. Paul was a big scary dude covered in tattoos, and there were Hells Angels stickers and posters everywhere.</div><div> He was nice as could be, and wanted to help. We pulled my saddle bag off and put my bike up on the lift...... and realized the pulley he had was the wrong one. He called around to Harley dealerships, and some shops, but no luck. I had been riding with it like this since NY, and I had broken the ring off that was making all the noise. So I figured I'd keep going and hope for the best, I mean what could go wrong?!</div><div> Turns out I was in Lynn, MA. which is where Alyson grew up, and her dad lived literally around the corner. She told him where I was, and he rode is motorcycle over. I met him (John), and we talked for a few. I told him I was headed to Salem, and he said he'd take me there and buy me lunch. I told Paul thank you and took off to Salem.</div><div> John took me to his favorite restaurant in Salem, which was where he used to take Alyson as a kid. We ate and talked about motorcycles for the most part. Super nice guy, no wonder Alyson is such a sweetheart. He took off and I walked around Salem for a bit. There's a really cool 'Salem Witch Trials Memorial', and a graveyard with headstones dating from the late 1600's into the 1800's. I walked around and took some pics before getting back on the bike.</div><div>I rode up into Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Pretty cool little town. I left there and headed into Maine. It started getting pretty cold, which is a nice change from the heat of the south, and south west!</div><div> Maine is absolutely beautiful. I rode past Portland, and went a few miles into the hills above Freeport to Bradbury Mountain State Park. I Parked at the front gate of the campground since it was closed. I walked thru the whole campground, not one site open. I went back to my bike and was looking at the map to find another campsite when a guy walked up and asked if I was looking for a site. He said he was camping by himself and that I could put my tent up in his site. I went and got setup and talked with him for a bit. Super cool guy, from Connecticut, but had been in Brooklyn for the last few years. He said he had to get up early and take off so he turned in. I stayed up and made some food before hitting the sack myself.</div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-rapHJ6zGVlE/U_yiwhvx84I/AAAAAAAAAYU/sxd5wBzGluU/s640/blogger-image-1284721240.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-rapHJ6zGVlE/U_yiwhvx84I/AAAAAAAAAYU/sxd5wBzGluU/s640/blogger-image-1284721240.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> ^ Thanks Mike for the hospitality!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KlLehEPYaeY/U_yijMDavSI/AAAAAAAAAX0/97vQ03adpeQ/s640/blogger-image-1013944577.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KlLehEPYaeY/U_yijMDavSI/AAAAAAAAAX0/97vQ03adpeQ/s640/blogger-image-1013944577.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8KO-scwpU30/U_yix7yh8aI/AAAAAAAAAYc/H_xrC-UuCxM/s640/blogger-image-1436014638.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8KO-scwpU30/U_yix7yh8aI/AAAAAAAAAYc/H_xrC-UuCxM/s640/blogger-image-1436014638.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Du4pvbEoXiU/U_yih18l40I/AAAAAAAAAXs/M_MMH1m9RFc/s640/blogger-image-50773073.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Du4pvbEoXiU/U_yih18l40I/AAAAAAAAAXs/M_MMH1m9RFc/s640/blogger-image-50773073.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eXzsmGfJGF0/U_yiklxDi-I/AAAAAAAAAX8/zKvw637djVE/s640/blogger-image--1184034754.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eXzsmGfJGF0/U_yiklxDi-I/AAAAAAAAAX8/zKvw637djVE/s640/blogger-image--1184034754.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-CtSGWUn8kpA/U_yimJCJdlI/AAAAAAAAAYE/LM0eR2q5xaI/s640/blogger-image--1415830331.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-CtSGWUn8kpA/U_yimJCJdlI/AAAAAAAAAYE/LM0eR2q5xaI/s640/blogger-image--1415830331.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-V3H-w7o_Jlc/U_yigIxJxII/AAAAAAAAAXk/rF_UInbvtnk/s640/blogger-image--1628066716.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-V3H-w7o_Jlc/U_yigIxJxII/AAAAAAAAAXk/rF_UInbvtnk/s640/blogger-image--1628066716.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9Eqri-GB91w/U_yivJlnA1I/AAAAAAAAAYM/egxSVycw0Lc/s640/blogger-image--242185574.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9Eqri-GB91w/U_yivJlnA1I/AAAAAAAAAYM/egxSVycw0Lc/s640/blogger-image--242185574.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> ^ Bradbury Mountain State Park</div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-11783779893046850302014-08-25T08:44:00.003-07:002014-08-25T08:58:19.084-07:008/22/14<div> I woke up around 4 am and sure enough, it was raining pretty hard. I woke up again at 6:30.... still raining, 8:00, still raining haha. I hid out in my tent until about 10:00am when it finally stopped, and the sun started showing.</div><div>I packed up and rode to Plymouth. It was really cool walking around there, I went to see Plymouth Rock.... which is just a small rock with '1620' etched in it, and apparently may or may not have been the rock the pilgrims rowed to to walk onto land...... since the Mayflower was anchored about a mile off shore because of the shallow waters. Either way its a significant land mark. There's a lot of cool statues and monuments near there. The history in New England is so cool. It was really awesome to finally see all the places that I've been reading and learning about since I was a kid. I paid, and walked thru the Pilgrims Hall Museum. 100% worth the money, it was amazing. They also had a temporary Civil War exhibit up which was really cool.</div><div> I rode up to Boston, and parked. Apparently I was parked in a loading zone and didn't realize it. I walked across the street and a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk stopped me. He started talking to me about motorcycles, I had about a dollar in change, and gave it to him. As soon as I handed it to him, he noticed the meter maid looking at my bike. I ran over there and told her it was my bike. She told me I was parked illegally, I told her I didn't realize it was a loading zone, and that I would happily move my bike. She asked me where I was from and about my trip. I told her I was going to walk around Boston for a bit, and grab some food, she told me to leave my nike there and that it was fine! Ventura, and Los Angeles Cops take note....... You can be a cop AND be nice to people.</div><div> I had a Philly cheesesteak, and clam chowder in a bread bowl, watched some of the street performers and walked around downtown for a bit.</div><div> I rode up to Danvers, MA to Olive Garden where I met Mike. A guy from Instagram that offered to put me up for the night. When he got off work I followed him to his house and hung out with him and his friend Nick.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Cq4Z4dqDwoQ/U_tZuMgnOLI/AAAAAAAAAV0/L_9lGff2ysM/s640/blogger-image-1497474865.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Cq4Z4dqDwoQ/U_tZuMgnOLI/AAAAAAAAAV0/L_9lGff2ysM/s640/blogger-image-1497474865.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; clear: both;"> ^ The rain isn't so bad when I'm not riding in it haha.</div><div class="separator" style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Zk0dKJr5VRc/U_tZw4xlXfI/AAAAAAAAAWE/Vk6H6Ooa32k/s640/blogger-image--975331089.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Zk0dKJr5VRc/U_tZw4xlXfI/AAAAAAAAAWE/Vk6H6Ooa32k/s640/blogger-image--975331089.jpg"></a></div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> ^ Shwame-Crowell State Park. The food is really good there obviously haha. I met Dan, the owner, and we started talking motorcycles. Me and Danny hopped in his car and went to his shop to see his bike..... which also is Paul Cox's shop! Paul Cox is an amazing Leather smith, welder, bike builder, machinist, painter, pin striper, etc...... basically a badass. I've been following his work for years. Unfortunately he was out of town, but I did talk to him via e-mail. It was an amazing opportunity to check out his shop, and his whole setup. Thanks again Dan and Carrie for letting me hangout for a bit!</div><div> I got my bike packed up, said bye to Danny and headed north. I rode up into Connecticut and headed north west to Providence Rhode Island, and then into Massachusetts. It was getting dark so I headed to Cape Cod. I pulled up to Shwame-Crowell State Park around 10pm. The kid working at the registration booth was super cool, he got me a site, then offered to not only give me a bundle of firewood free (since the camp store was closed), but to also drive it my site!</div><div> I made a fire and some food, The sky was looking a little suspect so I brought everything in my tent and covered my bike up just in case.</div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-GJZUoqDWjK4/U_tZ0pPP74I/AAAAAAAAAWc/lgDpZ30OUs8/s640/blogger-image--2053233902.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-GJZUoqDWjK4/U_tZ0pPP74I/AAAAAAAAAWc/lgDpZ30OUs8/s640/blogger-image--2053233902.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-X-19irFynbE/U_tZvZU7gBI/AAAAAAAAAV8/p6c0eMQ5b4A/s640/blogger-image-741840482.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-X-19irFynbE/U_tZvZU7gBI/AAAAAAAAAV8/p6c0eMQ5b4A/s640/blogger-image-741840482.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6ngEwXEF3aY/U_tZsCmj7DI/AAAAAAAAAVk/ClehXFiBn9Y/s640/blogger-image--1550873341.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6ngEwXEF3aY/U_tZsCmj7DI/AAAAAAAAAVk/ClehXFiBn9Y/s640/blogger-image--1550873341.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eii6HPENyyw/U_tZF2EfJyI/AAAAAAAAAUU/6tF9NB40bRQ/s640/blogger-image--2114903247.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eii6HPENyyw/U_tZF2EfJyI/AAAAAAAAAUU/6tF9NB40bRQ/s640/blogger-image--2114903247.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1iQyx9G3Ixs/U_tZyvJi5PI/AAAAAAAAAWM/GyA09QnkvSc/s640/blogger-image--246525521.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1iQyx9G3Ixs/U_tZyvJi5PI/AAAAAAAAAWM/GyA09QnkvSc/s640/blogger-image--246525521.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vdHikuxjSdg/U_tZohZhy3I/AAAAAAAAAVU/azmLFAfCplg/s640/blogger-image--68147151.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vdHikuxjSdg/U_tZohZhy3I/AAAAAAAAAVU/azmLFAfCplg/s640/blogger-image--68147151.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-87521302982926324662014-08-25T08:29:00.001-07:002014-08-25T08:29:22.623-07:008/20/14<div> I hung out with Danny for a bit, before he headed down to the beach with a friend. I rode the Long Island Railroad, and took a cab to Corey's house to get my bike. I walked up to his house and noticed that his car was parked really close to the house.... and the fence on the opposite side. I pulled my bike out of the garage in the backyard and realized immediately that there was no way in hell my bike was fitting thru there haha. I packed everything up on my bike, and stole Corey's highway pegs off his bike! I tried to fit my bike thru the small walkway on the other side of the house...... no dice. Well Corey is in Cancun with Pam on their honeymoon.... perfect haha. I sent him a message on Facebook, but figured he wouldn't see it for awhile. I found Peg, Pam's mom on Facebook and wrote her a message with my phone number..... in about 10 minutes she called me! she cam over about 20 min later and unlocked the front door to the house, the car keys were sitting right inside the door.... Thanks again Peg!!!</div><div> Finally got on the road to head back to Brooklyn, right in time for rush hour traffic. Took me about 2 hours to get to the Harley dealership that my new friend Erik works at. We sat down and talked about a design for HD wallets for them. And in the meantime the service department changed the oil, spark plugs, and washed my bike..... for free. Thank you NYC Harley Davidson!!</div><div> I walked from Danny's to a bar called Battery Harris, and met up with a few people from Instagram. Gotta love Social Media! Kate, Jake, and Jeff. Jake had recently gotten into motorcycles, and Jeff had recently ridden cros country, from Phoenix to Brooklyn. So we hungout for awhile and talked. I've met some really cool people so far.</div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-cYZZoFI1nco/U_tWTHCOvDI/AAAAAAAAAUE/D88N9FHoba0/s640/blogger-image-2046220280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-cYZZoFI1nco/U_tWTHCOvDI/AAAAAAAAAUE/D88N9FHoba0/s640/blogger-image-2046220280.jpg"></a></div> ^ Real funny Corey!!!!<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Y7EEkCGgc-8/U_tWSLQwS8I/AAAAAAAAAT8/tBpHf_BQiqo/s640/blogger-image--1337856269.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Y7EEkCGgc-8/U_tWSLQwS8I/AAAAAAAAAT8/tBpHf_BQiqo/s640/blogger-image--1337856269.jpg"></a></div> ^ Thanks again Peg, for getting me free, and back on the road!! haha<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-6lJJpcEKsNg/U_tWUFa6SgI/AAAAAAAAAUM/W_oOvLPDMjo/s640/blogger-image--962187326.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-6lJJpcEKsNg/U_tWUFa6SgI/AAAAAAAAAUM/W_oOvLPDMjo/s640/blogger-image--962187326.jpg"></a></div> ^ NYC HD hooking my bike up!!!<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-VMKWt-O3rxY/U_tWRLWCfpI/AAAAAAAAAT0/0TFhc5DYf3Q/s640/blogger-image--1951567738.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-VMKWt-O3rxY/U_tWRLWCfpI/AAAAAAAAAT0/0TFhc5DYf3Q/s640/blogger-image--1951567738.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-aZHY7NctW3M/U_tWODwmpYI/AAAAAAAAATk/lJhPpZ9Mo9Q/s640/blogger-image--1510799731.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-aZHY7NctW3M/U_tWODwmpYI/AAAAAAAAATk/lJhPpZ9Mo9Q/s640/blogger-image--1510799731.jpg"></a></div> ^ Under the train bridge in Brooklyn. We walked around Brooklyn for a bit, then took a car over to Manhattan. We walked around SOHO for a little while. It was so damn crowded!!! After a bit they had to go to get Andrew to the airport.</div><div> I went to The Library bar to say hi to Nicole, and meet her friend Erik.... who funny enough looks ridiculously similar to me haha. He works for the NYC Harley Davidson dealerships, and wanted to talk to me about doing some wallets for them!</div><div> I took the train to the south point of Manhattan. I rode the free ferry to Staten Island and back. It was really cool going past the Statue Of Liberty at night and seeing it all lit up. Same with the city, seeing downtown from the boat was awesome. So many damn lights! I stopped at 'Dave's Pizza' and had a couple slices... it was so good. Rode the train up to Times Square and walked around a bit...... what a circus! it was 1:30AM, and there were people everywhere!</div><div> I took the train back to Union Square to transfer to the L train to Brooklyn. I was sitting on the stairs waiting looking at my phone, and saw a bicycle tire roll into my leg......... looked to see my friend Julio who I worked with at the Woodland Hills Val Surf over 10 years ago! He lives in Brooklyn now, so random!!! Rode the train with him until I got to Williamsburg to go to Danny's. another long tiring day... but I loved it.</div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0UqzfJq1Yz4/U_tTpxlzzpI/AAAAAAAAASs/NuG3O14egjg/s640/blogger-image--1115308518.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0UqzfJq1Yz4/U_tTpxlzzpI/AAAAAAAAASs/NuG3O14egjg/s640/blogger-image--1115308518.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QIeaN5Zysj0/U_tTjBXjFfI/AAAAAAAAASU/71fS6ZUz2pg/s640/blogger-image-336358346.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QIeaN5Zysj0/U_tTjBXjFfI/AAAAAAAAASU/71fS6ZUz2pg/s640/blogger-image-336358346.jpg"></a></div> ^ Heade to the Staten Island Ferry.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2FtuvPCFGEI/U_tTwokvWqI/AAAAAAAAATU/1yYiSG2uQSU/s640/blogger-image--1288153867.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-2FtuvPCFGEI/U_tTwokvWqI/AAAAAAAAATU/1yYiSG2uQSU/s640/blogger-image--1288153867.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Hfg7Gx525YU/U_tTyqTs-gI/AAAAAAAAATc/_hs8yCubBM0/s640/blogger-image--170703549.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Hfg7Gx525YU/U_tTyqTs-gI/AAAAAAAAATc/_hs8yCubBM0/s640/blogger-image--170703549.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-GD8tdSxkkIQ/U_tTrMDwQoI/AAAAAAAAAS0/YbBD6ghDBq0/s640/blogger-image--417969749.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-GD8tdSxkkIQ/U_tTrMDwQoI/AAAAAAAAAS0/YbBD6ghDBq0/s640/blogger-image--417969749.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Sn5nZhsUH7Q/U_tTnApMpnI/AAAAAAAAASc/tFdwcRjZMcU/s640/blogger-image-1283145360.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Sn5nZhsUH7Q/U_tTnApMpnI/AAAAAAAAASc/tFdwcRjZMcU/s640/blogger-image-1283145360.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-GqFy0WCwmFI/U_tTvodOmwI/AAAAAAAAATM/Xu8dUcVmaXE/s640/blogger-image--2033768078.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-GqFy0WCwmFI/U_tTvodOmwI/AAAAAAAAATM/Xu8dUcVmaXE/s640/blogger-image--2033768078.jpg"></a></div> ^ Mrs. Liberty.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Pa9MItpDI-Q/U_tTowUNSkI/AAAAAAAAASk/MfTPeM2zN-w/s640/blogger-image--450222843.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Pa9MItpDI-Q/U_tTowUNSkI/AAAAAAAAASk/MfTPeM2zN-w/s640/blogger-image--450222843.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-emBlrYDP1Zg/U_tTto4XhdI/AAAAAAAAAS8/cqKTHf1VJzA/s640/blogger-image--1620412042.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-emBlrYDP1Zg/U_tTto4XhdI/AAAAAAAAAS8/cqKTHf1VJzA/s640/blogger-image--1620412042.jpg"></a></div> ^ Times Square.<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-XF__21-d3Hw/U_tTuk_Mx4I/AAAAAAAAATE/0JZ7cbE5BIk/s640/blogger-image--101880142.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-XF__21-d3Hw/U_tTuk_Mx4I/AAAAAAAAATE/0JZ7cbE5BIk/s640/blogger-image--101880142.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"> ^ Times Square.</div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-13633577130883569212014-08-25T08:06:00.001-07:002014-08-25T08:06:04.364-07:008/18/14<div> I took the train to Manhattan and met up with Andrew, since he was still in New York as well. I met him at the Will Leather Goods store, which was awesome! I had seen their stuff online, but not in person. I met shane, who owns the store, and talked with her about leather work for a bit. I tagged along with Andrew to meet his friend Dan for breakfast. Dan had been in a bunch of the bands I loved years ago. It was super cool sitting and talking with him and Andrew about old bands and shows.</div><div> Andrew and I took the train up a little ways and started walking into Central Park. Pete rode the train from Manhattan by himslef, since Nick (another groomsmen) was in Jail haha. Nick, Pete, and Andrew were driving a rental car in Manhattan, Nick did a U-turn and got pulled over. Apparently he had an unpaid ticket from months before, that had suspended his license in NY. They took him to jail overnight, and made him pay a $300 fine. Which is still cheaper then a ticket in LA.<div> We all went to the rehearsal at Pam's parents house, then the rehearsal dinnner at a cool restaurant over looking the ocean.</div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-78244350066642401752014-08-21T21:41:00.001-07:002014-08-21T21:41:54.277-07:008/13/14<div> Woke up to blue skies in Hanover, MD. Which was a pleasant change after the last couple days of constantly getting rained on! As I was packing up my stuff to load up my bike, I got a text from Corey with a pic of a car floating down the street by his house, not good. The storm that hit me yesterday was now dumping rain on Long Island, mostly on Central Islip, and Bay Shore, Where Corey and Pam live. Apparently the storm drains there were built to handle about 5' of rain in a 24 hour period...... they got 13" in under an hour. FLOODED!!!!!</div><div> So I took my time, rode thru Baltimore, and into Delaware. Went over the Delaware Memorial Bridge, and started up the New Jersey Turnpike. Up til then the weather had been sunny and nice. I could see the rain ahead. As I would catch up to the rain, I would pull off the highway and hang out. I rode over the Goethals bridge onto Staten Island, then over the Verrazano bridge into Brooklyn. The ride out to Bay Shore was nice, good weather, and traffic wasn't bad...... Corey told me that no matter what, do not take Sunrise Highway, since it was flooded. So I went a different way on Southern Shore highway. As I got closer I talked to Corey's sister Tiffany, she was at the hotel while Corey picked his parents up from the airport. So I put the hotel address in my GPS, which took me to.... you guessed it, Sunrise Highway. It wasnt bad, until I came to a part of the highway that was flooded. The left side of the highway was the shallowest part, so I rode thru there, and it wasnt bad. Didn't even get wet....... until I got to the next flooded section. The left side was also the shallowest part, except the shallow part was deep haha. The water was up over my footpegs, so I put my feet up on my gas tank and charged thru. My boots, and the back of my jeans got soaked, again. I really thought I was going to make it through the day dry!!!!! Finally made it to the hotel and met up with Tiffany, Corey and their parents. We went to dinner, and Coreys dad, Rick and myself went to pick up our suits for the wedding.</div><div> 3400 miles and 7 days, made it to NY!!!! </div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vOUGxiDZXWQ/U_bJ6R9A78I/AAAAAAAAAM4/RaLPY1FafCU/s640/blogger-image--2134491696.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vOUGxiDZXWQ/U_bJ6R9A78I/AAAAAAAAAM4/RaLPY1FafCU/s640/blogger-image--2134491696.jpg"></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-CcPHVH3hw5o/U_bJ9bG6JyI/AAAAAAAAANY/99SJft618Os/s640/blogger-image-1897665728.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-CcPHVH3hw5o/U_bJ9bG6JyI/AAAAAAAAANY/99SJft618Os/s640/blogger-image-1897665728.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-E1Q5d6RdeuE/U_bJ8nkWnNI/AAAAAAAAANQ/NXq30WOK56E/s640/blogger-image--465878208.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-E1Q5d6RdeuE/U_bJ8nkWnNI/AAAAAAAAANQ/NXq30WOK56E/s640/blogger-image--465878208.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-xDSJg3kSKfo/U_bJ5tcwvUI/AAAAAAAAAMw/HICkzzYFtdw/s640/blogger-image--211527733.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-xDSJg3kSKfo/U_bJ5tcwvUI/AAAAAAAAAMw/HICkzzYFtdw/s640/blogger-image--211527733.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-l7GW_0mySHU/U_bJ-x8ojvI/AAAAAAAAANk/39ttV24PQ54/s640/blogger-image-724183720.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-l7GW_0mySHU/U_bJ-x8ojvI/AAAAAAAAANk/39ttV24PQ54/s640/blogger-image-724183720.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-6T0ZSqQpvF0/U_bJ7_JvxLI/AAAAAAAAANI/xKfdcdK0uzQ/s640/blogger-image--1272121462.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-6T0ZSqQpvF0/U_bJ7_JvxLI/AAAAAAAAANI/xKfdcdK0uzQ/s640/blogger-image--1272121462.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OOa8BGDwKlo/U_bJ-F4P7EI/AAAAAAAAANg/bvn_ECKjuTw/s640/blogger-image-185013629.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OOa8BGDwKlo/U_bJ-F4P7EI/AAAAAAAAANg/bvn_ECKjuTw/s640/blogger-image-185013629.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-MJJeWeCL_h4/U_bJ4zfa-dI/AAAAAAAAAMo/osSrUy7nFrQ/s640/blogger-image--1803271727.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-MJJeWeCL_h4/U_bJ4zfa-dI/AAAAAAAAAMo/osSrUy7nFrQ/s640/blogger-image--1803271727.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-whHhqpEa31c/U_bJ7EROORI/AAAAAAAAANA/NodepoI6Dps/s640/blogger-image--2050325964.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-whHhqpEa31c/U_bJ7EROORI/AAAAAAAAANA/NodepoI6Dps/s640/blogger-image--2050325964.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-IS3ZoWBggMw/U_bJ3zgyk0I/AAAAAAAAAMg/617zthBiQgI/s640/blogger-image--2066852698.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-IS3ZoWBggMw/U_bJ3zgyk0I/AAAAAAAAAMg/617zthBiQgI/s640/blogger-image--2066852698.jpg"></a></div>Winter Co.http://www.blogger.com/profile/07846178401354441763noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666998948184275721.post-86041621967256126942014-08-13T20:21:00.001-07:002014-08-13T20:28:20.281-07:008/12/14<div>Woke up in Alexandria, Virginia. It was raining lightly, and I was less then 10 miles from Washington DC. Since I had never been there before, I figured I'd stop and check it out before heading to Long Island, NY. There was a lot of traffic in DC, and the rain had seemed to stop......... until i parked next to the Washington monument. Thats when the sky let loose. Within seconds of stepping off my bike I was soaked. Since I would get wet riding anyway, I figured I'd walk around regardless. Well the rain got heavier, and I got drenched from head to toe. I walked to the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial Wall, and the WWII Memorial. I was the only one walking around without an umbrella or rain poncho.</div><div> I got on my bike and sat in traffic for a few miles to the highway.. I made it about 15 miles on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, passed two bad accidents, and rode the shoulder for a couple miles in dead stop traffic. I stopped at a gas station and hid out of the rain for about 30 minutes. It let up quite a bit, so I got back on the highway. I rode about 10 more miles. Passed a car that had just flipped and slid into a tree, firefighters were pulling the guy from the car when I passed. Again traffic completely stopped, and I rode the shoulder for a bit. I came up on a section of the highway where the trees opened up. Crazy wind gusts, thunder, and lightning were happening...... The highway started flooding and I was riding in over a foot of water, up over my feet. So I took the next exit, and again hid at a gas station. I waited about an hour, and it got worse...... So I checked into the nearest hotel, and called it a day. When I walked up to check in, I reached up to set my wallet on the counter..... water came pouring out my jacket sleeve all over the counter. Every step I took left a puddle from my boots haha.</div><div> I've ridden in heavy rain, and bad conditions...... but being out on the road, let alone on a motorcycle was just plain stupid!</div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-zUoSVU7FG6w/U-wrDDp3bHI/AAAAAAAAALw/SZE4nbk8iJs/s640/blogger-image-1881721022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-zUoSVU7FG6w/U-wrDDp3bHI/AAAAAAAAALw/SZE4nbk8iJs/s640/blogger-image-1881721022.jpg"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-pSfwiKB8weY/U-wrEyKBMjI/AAAAAAAAAMA/bfcDrq4lvCA/s640/blogger-image--1159962507.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-pSfwiKB8weY/U-wrEyKBMjI/AAAAAAAAAMA/bfcDrq4lvCA/s640/blogger-image--1159962507.jpg"></a></div> ^ I've always seen pictures of DC, but seing it in person was pretty amazing.
